From animation to advertising to world creation, it’s been a peculiar path, to say the least.
I’ve drawn since I can remember, but the marketing part, well, could be considered “my dark past” (yes, it wasn’t that bad, but it adds drama, ok?). The thing is, I’ve been there, done that and I didn’t like it.
So now am back to my original and neverending passion: Stories.
My marketing past, although obscure, gave me a particular set of tools, and a different point of view of things, and I’m planning to use that.
The world creation part came into place because I used to have a hard time writing stories, so, having a world and being able to rely on its details, was the answer to that problem… and it became a passion too. I mean, it’s just too much fun, inventing the fundamental laws, tweaking some physics here and there, it’s like coding…with the fabrics of reality.
And that’s what I do now.
Write, draw and invent worlds.
All that while studying like crazy, because, you never know enough when it’s about creating worlds.
I mean, you have to know about magic if you want to write about magic, right? And I mean real magic.
😉
Basically, the things I do at work
(And other things I used to do)
Including psychological backgrounds and visual reference for the 3D team.
I do traditional art too but we live in a digital world now.
Everything you need so you don’t have to use “Midichloreans” as an excuse.
Logos, icons, print design and sometimes UI.
I remember filling entire walls with tiny drawings.
I know how to “talk” to computers, doesn’t mean that I am “fluent” in doing so. I can make a website and code games with c# (but really slow).
The tools of the trade for my daily job
From nightmarish 360° panoramas to beautiful illustrations. Been using Photoshop since the beginning of my career.
Maybe is just me, but there is something therapeutic in working with vectors. moving tiny points, getting obsessed with perfection… I like it.
Yup, because there’s nothing better than the power to move and animate what you create… and add particles…and FX…3D layers.
Because you have to understand how your game assets work. And I haven’t lost hope in making a game by my own someday.
Entering in the realm of software that I don’t use much… but I needed to know if 3D sculpting was my thing… and its fun, but no.
You better know how to unwrap a 3d model or render a scene because sooner than later you will have to.
Long years of studying, some great books and a ton of tutorials
That's my creative studio. The "One man army" concept may sound good, but it often doesn't work. So, for big projects, I have a trusted freelance team to back me up. Feel free to take a look at:
